I’m a homeschooling mom of twins in Las Vegas and an award-winning journalist. I started homeschooling when the twins were 8 and in gifted classes in a MAGNET school. I never thought we’d be here. It has been better than we ever expected. I have managed magazines, book stores and a freelance business so when we found ourselves homeschooling, I immediately went into management mode.

I tracked down the free stuff, the low-cost programs and finally the full curriculums that I could lean on to make sure the twins weren’t missing one.single.subject. Then I found unschooling! The twins not only excelled they relished every learning moment. I put them in charge and simply guided them in what interested them. No more tears over long division or reading what was recommended for their grade level. We delved into physics, anatomy and history (mostly tragic events to appease my daughter’s love of drama, but I digress). I realized that I was looking for the right way to homeschool when there is no one way.

The Homeschool Cafe shines a light on all that kids can accomplish when they follow their inspiration. The info here can help parents wade through all the information out there on homeschooling to find what works best for their family.

My mission is to inspire, inform and demystify homeschooling in the 21st century. There is so many opportunities for kids either homeschooling or who want to supplement their education.
