We do a lot with our little machine in our homeschool and love to share what we find for Cricut ideas. There are so many, I can’t get to them all! We’ve been using Cricut in our house for years, for everything from organizing to decorating the bland powder room! Aside from the very cool labels for storing all our stuff, chore charts and desk mats with times tables and grammar samples, I’ve also made some great gifts at the last minute for family and friends.
Amazon has some great deals for picking up Cricut tools and materials. Here’s a few of my must-haves. This full set of colorful pens usually run $40+ and are half-price as well as sticker paper (this is my fave)! Can’t get enough sticker paper. I prefer this vinyl over the Cricut brand because it’s easier to pick out all the little pieces around the final design. These metallic pens are my daughter’s latest obsession in creating her own sticker designs.

But the Cricut ideas that have been our favorites are the paper crafts that kept their little hands busy while I worked! We have made holiday scenes, origami and Valentine’s Day cards and boxes. This year we made nail art with tiny hearts made of vinyl and cut on the Cricut machine. They have stuck on our nails for a good week, through gardening and dishwashing, volleyball and homeschool park day.
An easy gift for those who have everything is to make laundry labels or pantry labels or a year of cards and bundle them up!
Cricut Ideas for Your Homeschool
Some of our best Cricut ideas were the desk mats with prompts for the subjects that created the most tears – prepositional phrases and multiplication tables. Those were brilliant. I’ve also used it to create quick T-shirts to celebrate milestones or for our group, organize bins and make our small homeschool space pretty.
I also make cleaning plans, chore charts, meal planning pages that the kids fill out so they can make healthy choices throughout the week and much more. Then of course I laminate them. I love my laminator. We’ve used it since pre-K for worksheets so I don’t have to continually print out the same things for both kids. This is my favorite because it heats up in a minute and it’s just touch-and-go. It doesn’t get crazy hot so the kids can help pull the sheets out.

Not Just Any Special Occasion Card
And the cards! We made a foldable box that opened up into a pop-up bouquet for my mom for Mother’s Day. This Father’s Day, we made a sweet get well card with a travel pop up for my husband because he broke his ankle right before our big trip.
The Cricut cuts, scores and lays everything out so you just have to load the machine and let it do it’s thing. Once all the pieces are cut, scored and marked, follow the directions to layer it or notch it together.
Decals for Days
But probably my favorite thing to make as gifts is decals. Yup. Sounds silly, right?! People loved them. Car decals saved us on shipping and having to go to the post office last year! They are personal and fun. We sent Fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas decals to friends RVing around the country and birthday cake and balloons on their special day.
We designed a personalized sports team sticker for a dear friend, but she actually put it on her clipboard at work. For my mom’s birthday, we made a World’s Best Grandma On Board from the twins for her little sports car.
We use vinyl for a lot of crafts, including this bathroom sign. Super easy to make on any flat surface you can hang. Get a frame from the dollar store and put it on the glass, too.
T-shirts for the Win
And T-shirts! We grab them on sale for a few dollars and whip them out for family vacations or as a last-minute gift for a friend.
Our favorite thing to do is use a favorite saying from our friend or family member. The twins’ made a shirt for their dad that says, “Ummmm, Sure,” because that is his go-to phrase when he is asked to do something when really he’d rather not.
My mom frequents a certain grocery store, I mean, seriously it’s a daily trip. We made her a tote bag ($4 at a big box craft store!) that said “If you need me I’ll be at (fave store)” and on the other side it said, “We love you, Grandma – the Twins).
Dollar Store Ideas for Cricut
For Father’s Day this year, we might make coasters with a few of their Dad’s favorite things, like quotes from “Star Wars” and a few of his own we wrote down in our memory jar we read each July 4 and New Year’s Eve.
Or socks that say “If You Can Read This, Let Your Dad Nap” on the bottom. He needs those. As soon as his head hits the couch, he’s covered in dogs and kids.
You can also get an oven mitt from the Dollar Store and iron on “I’m Too Hot to Handle” with a cute little flame. Grab a bucket or plastic bin and create your own basket of goodies, from BBQ to car care, beard care or favorite snacks just for him. Circut up a Dad’s BBQ BAsket, or For Dad Only or the always good, “World’s Best Dad” or “#1 Dad” or “We love you, Dad!” across the front.
