As they continue to practice, their sense of measurement develops to include new skills. Measuring lessons build on their ability to compare and learn to order three or more objects in a sequence.

Tips to Use the Measuring Skills Kit

I used worksheets like these when my twins were little as part of our busy baskets. The drawing kept my little artist busy and my analytical son measuring stacks of blocks and other items in our basket of homeschool activities.

Kids can draw their own creations and measure them with a ruler or informal measuring tool, like a crayon. Make a game of it and see who can draw the smallest or largest racecar, rainbow or flower. Or who can draw the lightest object they can think of? Kids learn best through play so make this a fun activity.

Encourage your kids to extend their measurement skills by placing objects end to end and measure the length. Then add gaps, overlays or twist the line of blocks or a rope to show how the length shrank.
